Tools & Devices FAQs

Does LED light therapy actually work?

There is reasonable evidence behind it, provided you use it consistently. Red and near infrared light are used to support collagen and calm the skin, while blue light targets the bacteria involved in breakouts.

What matters is the dose. That is why we stock Omnilux, Medicube and Déesse Pro rather than the cheapest devices available. Results build over weeks of regular use rather than overnight.

How often do I need to use an LED mask?

Most protocols are three to five sessions a week for the first eight to twelve weeks, then a lighter maintenance pattern. Sessions are usually around ten minutes.

Protocols differ between devices, so check the product page for the one you are considering. The honest test of whether a device suits you is whether you will realistically use it that often.

Which Omnilux mask should I choose?

It depends on the concern:

  • Contour Face Mask is the all rounder, for firmness and fine lines
  • Clear Face Mask combines blue and red light for breakouts
  • Contour Neck & Decolleté covers the area most people forget
  • Eye Brightener works on the eye area specifically
  • Blemish Eraser is a small targeted device for individual spots
  • Men's LED Face Mask is the same red and near infrared technology in a broader fit

What is the difference between an LED mask and a microcurrent tool?

LED works with light alone. There is no sensation, and you lie back with it on for around ten minutes.

Tools like the Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro X2 and Déesse Pro Sculpta work more directly on the skin and the muscle beneath it, usually with a conductive gel, and are hands on. Plenty of people use both, LED for skin quality and a tool for lift and definition.

Can I use a device alongside retinol and acids?

Yes, with sensible spacing. Use the device on clean dry skin with nothing on it, then apply your serums and moisturiser afterwards.

If you are using a prescription retinoid or a strong acid, keep those for a different evening while your skin gets used to the device. If skin starts to feel sensitised, pause and let it settle rather than pushing on.

How long before I see a difference?

Allow eight to twelve weeks of consistent use before judging firmness and tone. Devices aimed at breakouts often show sooner.

A device is a one off purchase you will use for years rather than something you repurchase, which is how most of our customers weigh it up. If you are choosing between two, get in touch and we will talk you through the difference.
