Normal Skin Collection FAQs

What counts as normal skin?

Normal skin is neither very oily nor very dry. It rarely breaks out, does not feel tight after cleansing and is not easily irritated.

It still changes with age, the seasons and hormones, so your routine may need small changes over time.

What should my routine look like, morning and night?

  • Morning: a gentle cleanser such as SkinCeuticals Gentle Cleanser 190ml, a vitamin C serum if you like, a moisturiser, then SPF
  • Night: cleanse, then a moisturiser. Add a retinoid from your late twenties if you want to get ahead of ageing

You probably do not need a long routine. Cleanser, moisturiser and SPF cover the basics.

Which ingredients help, and which make it worse?

  • Help: hyaluronic acid, ceramides, vitamin C, a retinoid at night and daily SPF
  • Make it worse: stripping cleansers, over exfoliating and using too many actives at once

How long before I see a difference?

A good moisturiser shows within days. Vitamin C brightens over four to eight weeks, and retinoids take around three months to smooth texture and fine lines.

Can I use these alongside retinol, acids or SPF?

Yes. Normal skin usually handles actives well. Keep vitamin C for the morning and retinoids for the night, and use acids on separate nights from your retinoid.

Wear SPF every day, such as Heliocare 360 Gel Oil-Free SPF50 or SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial UV Defense SPF50 30ml.

If you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding, skip retinoids and check with your doctor.
