Glowing Skin FAQs

What causes dull skin?

Dull skin is usually a build up of dead skin cells that reflect light unevenly. Dehydration, tiredness, sun damage and slower cell turnover with age all add to it.

Glowing skin is smooth, hydrated and even in tone. Most of that comes from gentle exfoliation, hydration and antioxidants.

What should my routine look like, morning and night?

An occasional exfoliating powder such as Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant 74g gives an instant lift before a night out.

Which ingredients help, and which make it worse?

  • Help: vitamin C, niacinamide, gentle acids like PHA and lactic acid, hyaluronic acid and daily SPF
  • Make it worse: over exfoliating, heavy layers of product, skipping moisturiser and sun damage

How long before I see a difference?

Exfoliating and hydrating give a brighter look within days. Vitamin C and niacinamide even out tone over four to eight weeks.

Can I use these alongside retinol, acids or SPF?

Yes. Vitamin C in the morning, retinoids at night and exfoliating toners on nights you do not use a retinoid.

SPF every morning keeps the glow. Sun damage is the biggest cause of dull, uneven skin.
